Plasma-Assisted Modification of Carbon Fiber Surface Topography

A method and device for surface treatment of carbon fibers, used in carbon composites, via a microwave flow- discharge plasma applicator thereby improving the anchoring and adhesion of the carbon fiber to the polymeric matrix. The mechanical strength and interfacial sheer strength of the carbon fiber composite will increase.
