Load Monitoring for Cyber Event Detection

The invention disclosure relates to cyber security systems for computing devices and more specifically to a load monitoring system to identify suspect activities on such devices. A nonintrusive load monitoring (NILM) device is connected to the computing device and captures information indicative of its status. This information is then monitored to detect events on a computer by detecting transient changes in the load required by the computer.

Specific events of interest, such as heavy load with no keyboard or mouse use, indicate intrusion and are detected and signaled by the cyber security system.
