Quantum Spread Spectrum Communication

Quantum spread spectrum techniques improve the transmission of quantum optical systems for communication and sensing applications while maintaining the encoded quantum information. In particular, quantum spread spectrum extends the low-probability-of-intercept and anti-jam capabilities familiar from classical communication to the quantum domain, while simultaneously providing improved reception by quantum optical receivers. These techniques should prove especially useful in the development of free-space quantum optical systems. A second expected impact of Quantum spread spectrum techniques is in the domain of precision measurement.
